After a year of hammering, hush has returned — and it brought twelve thousand new friends. The renewed Hollow library opened its doors this week with silent study floors, glass group studios, a sunlit reading stair, and shelves restocked from picture books to postgraduate texts.
The heart of the renewal is the commons: a long oak table down the centre aisle where any pupil may sit, read and stay as long as they like. It was full within minutes of opening, and the librarians report it has barely emptied since.
The reading quest
To celebrate, every year group has been issued a reading quest — forty books, six genres, one year, and a gold-leafed nameplate on the quest wall for finishers. Year 4 is currently, and fiercely, in the lead.

The library is open from 7am to 10pm daily, and parents are welcome at the Saturday story mornings. Come and take the stairs slowly — the shelves deserve it.
